CES 2010

So much show, so little time!

Ran into Andy Germano and the Femto Forum crew. Femto Handset API is moving along but not published yet. No news on when the At&t Micro Cell will finally reach Culver City.

The iLounge was filled with iPhone related paraphernalia, too much to even get my head around. Lots of cases and battery extenders. Finally got an actual copy of "iPhone Life". iPhone Life is a magazine that keeps sending me invitations to advertise with them. Even though everyone keeps saying "print is dead" I still like magazines. That said, why would anyone pay to get a quarterly advertisement?

Couldn't attend the big Palm announcements, but the PDK announcement is huge! Native access to the Palm hardware is what that phone needed.

Non-Mobile News

  • Boxee has its own box and it runs apps! The Boxee demo was given by an App Developer. Her app was Suicide Girls

and she is Bob Suicide. Not your average developer.

  • Sharp Aquos 920 is phenomenal and it supports limited apps. Four colors per pixel is clearly better.

  • Apps are clearly the future of TV! With Apps on your phone and on your TV the consumer PC is history! Maybe the TV is the screen that needs to be linked to the phone.

  • LG's ultra thin TVs are unbelievable, someday they are just going to hide everything in the glass.

  • Dimmable Par 30 LED light-bulbs are coming soon, they may cost 3X a halogen bulb but they are so much greener. At least it seems like they should be. Has anyone done reasearch of the carbon footprint of a halogen bulb v. led bulb?
Next year I'll allocate more time to the show.

  1. Hey Ken!

Thanks for the new Blog and commentary about all things App: Apple, Android, and Palm... I appreciate your cool and functional Apps for the iPhone Platform and that you are a cross-platform developer. (It gives you insight into the inner workings of this complex world.) I've subscribed and will follow your ramblings... I am curious as to all things CES and hope to read about more of what you saw there. Thanks again, JupiterGlenn
